With all of the diet fads out, counting macros, ketosis diets, low carb, competition diets, elimination diet, vegetarian, paleo, the list goes on and on. It can be confusing and hard to stick to for many of us. What happened to “I just want to be healthy and feel good!” Everyone is different and everyone has different motives to eat a certain way. What works for you may not work for me….what works for the 19 year old female student, may not work for the 35 year old mom who works 2 jobs. What are the main points to ask yourself before choosing a way to eat?
- Is it convenient for your lifestyle?
- Do the food choices sound appetizing or not so much?
- Is this something you can see yourself doing for the rest of your life if it’s working?
- Do you want to count calories or macros forever?
- If it is a temporary diet, then what is the plan after the diet?
There are several other questions you can ask yourself, but make sure you are considering what you are getting yourself into in order to prevent disappointment down the road.
Habits and mindset tend to be the keys to having a sustainable lifestyle in order to have that scale-freedom and that healthy relationship with food. How often do you find yourself knowing what you need to do, but conveniently choose not to do it? It’s easier for us to not do it…..that’s why when it gets to the point where you HAVE to do it, then we choose to do what we knew all along. Think about that…… It becomes a vicious cycle of not doing what we know we need to do until we get uncomfortable, then doing what we are suppose to until we get comfortable….then the cycle repeats…
How about this? Let’s throw everything out of the window and just start working on healthy habits, commit to being better at something, one thing at a time? Every day is a goal…..Can you imagine if you did one goal and stuck with it every day, in a month you would have completed 30 goals!!!! That sounds better that saying…”I’m going to lose 20 pounds.” Right? What do you think???
Well, the past few weeks I have been working hard to put together a simple meal plan and focus plan for my Fit-campers who I meet with 3 times a week every week. I would love to share with everyone the meal plan I have put together if it is something you think will benefit you. Let me know if this is something you are committed to and will love to have the free info…. As my campers know, I don’t like spending the time putting something together if you are not going to follow it. 🙂
